Luke Crerand(speaking in groups week 5)

Presentations allow me to improve on my speaking and listening. Speaking in front of a group of people will improve my confidence in speaking and presenting. If I am listening to somebody else present a piece of information then I am improving my listening skills. This could improve me for the future because I will be less nervous presenting information the more I do it. I need to be fully prepared just incase I am ever asked to do this in front of a group of people. I definitely will need listening skills because if I'm being told to do something I need to know how to do it so it isn't wrong and then having to do it all again.

Luke Crerand(Barriers To Communication and avoiding them week 4)

This piece of work showed me what to avoid when in a conversation and helped me improve my communicating skills. For example it benefited me because I learnt not to mumble and to speak clearly and confident to help the other people understand me. One way to help me improve on these barriers is by doing some group activities where you are having to speak to different people with different barriers. In a workplace I'm going to have to communicate with different people so I need to be able to avoid barriers or know how to deal with them. I now feel more comfortable in having a better conversation and I feel this will definitely help me in the future.

Luke Crerand(Communications skills Week 3)

Good communications showed me that I needed to work on my speaking skills. I learnt about 5 skills that would improve me. Those 5 skills were lip reading, topic, facial expressions, eye contact, body language. One thing I did to improve myself for my career is presenting information to a large group of people. This benefited me because I had to use some of theses skills during my presentation. Another way this will benefit me is being able to communicate within a workplace with the people around me. I need to be able to present myself correctly and to speak to others with the right attitude and language.

Luke Crerand(Personal Development Plan Week 2)

My personal development plan helps me to plan for my career. It includes me talking about what I want to do in the future and putting the skills and qualifications I will need for this. For example I talked about wanting to do CAD and then said want I need to improve to do this. I also set 5 goals to achieve and explained how I would do it. These 5 targets would help to improve me for my career path in the future because I will always have targets to complete and they will keep me active. Having a plan is going to benefit me in my career because I will be prepared and I will have an idea of what I want to do next. It is important to set dates because I want to be pushed harder to meet deadlines and so I don't get bored of the same goal.

Luke Crerand(Employer Values Week 1)

This piece of worked helped me for my career because it showed what employers look for when employing workers. Some of the values I learnt about was specific and general attributes, also about the type of attitude you need for employers. I improved my self by doing the research about attitudes and finding out that I would need determination, confidence and good leadership skills. After finding out these values I started to do more group tasks to improve my team building skills. A general attribute that I'm going to need is time management. Employers will want somebody that can turn up on time and somebody that can manage themselves. One specific attribute I will need is health and safety. This will further my career because employers don't want somebody who isn't safe around their workplace, or somebody that is going to put other workers at risk.
